Network Access Storage (Network Data Backups)
Power failure, computer crashes, natural disaters! Oh my! What can you do to prevent the loss of your important data? As we often say on our Facebook page, or in our emails to customers, back up your data.
Now there are several ways to back up your device data but regardless of you being an Apple Mac, Windows PC or iPhone user the key thing is you are backing up your stuff.
Yet how? What is the best way to backup your stuff? In our opinion there is no "best way", the best way is one the gets you to use it. To do it regularily and has some kind of redundency in it to ensure the data you saved is truely backed up. Doing so will ensure that in the event of a computer crash you will be able to restore your data, without the high cost associated with a data recovery.
When setting up back up strategies for customers we like to preach the 3-2-1 method of backing up. 3, being have three copies of your data saved. One copy is the original on say your phone or computer. The other two (the 2) are additional copies, one (finally the 1) of which is separate from your location. This could be in another office, on the cloud or via network storage. This brings us NAS storage of Network Access Storage devices.
NAS storage stores data on of physical device (a computer/server) on your network. Most often your internal network (Wifi or Ethernet), primarily but they can include off site as well. Network storage can be setup in several different ways but the key aspect of it is that is is network accessible. Network storage can be setup to accommodate just one, or multiple users with various levels of data access.
