Uninterrupted Power Supplies - Protect your stuff!
Spring showers bring May flowers. What else do they bring? Thunderstorms! Thunderstorms are prevalent in Saskatchewan from May up to and including August bringing with them lightning that can wreck havoc on your electronics. These include personal computers, monitors and large screen smart TVs. Each are delicate in how they take in and distribute power to their critical component. Power spikes or surges, the result of a lightning strike or a failed substation can and do short out all type of computers, including laptops and smart TVs. In our experience printers are not as sensitive to these spikes, however this doesn't mean it could not happen.
How to protect yourself? Here at RescueTECH Regina we are big fans of Universal Power Supplies (UPS) with surge protection. For two reasons. First the UPS gives us the power backup to keep going in the event of a power outage, and the surge protection protects our critical business infrastructure from power surges.
